Membros andrew1234 Postado Dezembro 6, 2015 Membros Postado Dezembro 6, 2015 Hello, as I'm planning my next year trip to Brasil I have some questions about OP and BH. 1- I think to spend 1 day in BH. Is it enoughf? 2- Could it be a good idea to stay 5 days in OP and from there visit also Tiradentes, Conhongas, SJdR? 3- Could you recommend me some others interesting places? 4- At the end I want to go to Rio by bus. Is it bettere from OP or from SJdR? 5- As it seems Tiradentes is not so easy to reach by bus from OP, do you know if a can rent a car only with my European driving licence? Or do I need to have a special permission? Many thanks. Andrew. Citar

You can think in 2 to 3 days, depends on your travel speed. 2- I like more hte historic cities than common big ones. You shoud put in your bucket also Diamantina (and the Biribiri park), Serro and the Tabuleiro Waterfall. This is know as the Estrada Real complex, you can find lots os info on google or here http://www.institutoestradareal.com.br/en/ 3- Done it. 4- Dont know. 5- I think you need a International Drivers License. Membros tiagokxuera Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Membros Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Hello Andrew! 1) I would stay around 2 days in BH. The night in BH is amazing. 2) 5 Days in this area is good idea. You can visit many interesting places. 3) Like Top_Dog told you, Diamantina is also amazing place to visit. 4) I did a small research and find some bus schedule, like this website: https://www.guichevirtual.com.br/rio-de-janeiro-rj-v-ouro-preto-mg?gclid=Cj0KEQiAnJqzBRCW0rGWnKnckOIBEiQA6qDBakD5hU_kHeEjAWDioqaxrj53aeDvEPauiD3yskHQooEaAgJF8P8HAQ Anyway, you can find more options if you try to drop in some other places. Perhaps through "Juiz de Fora" city. 5) I am not sure about European drive license. As I know, Both our countries are inside the "Viena Convention" and it should be easy to get this international license. I know many Brazilians that had drove in Portugal without international drive license. So, I think you can drive here too. If you need any help, tell us. Citar
Colaboradores nathan_mg Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Colaboradores Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Hi Andrew! I'm from a city near to BH. Let me try to help you... At first, sorry for my english 1 - BH is an interesting city, you can visit it in 2 or 3 days if your travel will be long, but, if your travel will be short, I tell you to spend more days in the historic cities. This way, you can spend 1 day in BH, then move to Ouro Preto (OP). Other option is to stay about 5 days in BH and visit the places I recommend on answer number 3. 2 - In OP, i think you can visit all places in 2 or 3 days, spending more days if you like to enjoy the city. Tiradentes is smaller than OP, in 1 day you can visit all the city, by foot. I suggest you go from there to SJDR by train, it's a beautiful travel in about 30 minutes. SJDR it's bigger than Tiradentes, but the historic downtown is small. I think you know, SJDR stays at 15km from Tiradentes, by car. 3 - Staying in BH, I recommend you to visit Sabará (my city), it's a historic city at 25km from BH downtown. You can move to there by bus, taxi, or rent a car. If you rent a car, I suggest you go to the "Serra da Piedade", it's a beautiful mountain at 40km from Sabará, you can reach the summit by car, where have a church and a astronomical observatory. (Google this places ). Other beautiful and interesting place is the Inhotim Museum ( http://www.inhotim.org.br/ ), also near to BH. 4 - I think that's no difference. There's 2 links with the days and times that bus to RJ from the 2 cities: Ouro Preto: http://www.ouropreto.mg.gov.br/portal_do_turismo_2014/horario-de-onibus/partida/4/linha-onibus/4 SJDR: http://www.guiadelrei.com.br/informacoes/horario-de-onibus/ 5 - There is a link from our transit department that can help you: https://www.detran.mg.gov.br/habilitacao/habilitacao-internacional/carteira-nacional-de-habilitacao-para-estrangeiros You can send me an direct message, if you need more information or any help when you come. Thanks to your last suggestions I have adjusted my itinerary. So it could be: Arrival to Sao Paulo directly to BH by flight BH: 1 full day by bus to OP OP: 3 full days (included visits to Congonhas?) by bus to Tiradentes Tiradentes: 1 full day by taxi to SJdR to take the bus to Rio RIO: 3 full days by bus to Paraty Paraty: 2 full days (or is it enough 1 day?) by bus to Sao Paulo Sao Paulo: 2 full days Flight back to Italy I would be happy to have your comments before to define the final itinerary. As my trip will be from end July to half August I think it is better to book soon ....Rio already done. Ciao. Citar
Membros top_dog Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Membros Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 In Paraty you cannot miss the Tindade village, if you have to choose, Trindade is better than paraty. You are doing almost the Estrada Real path, just with a jump to Rio, any city in between is awesome. Did you heard of Itatiaia national park and Visconde de Mauá? Citar
Colaboradores nathan_mg Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 Colaboradores Postado Dezembro 8, 2015 OP: 3 full days (included visits to Congonhas?) Congonhas isn't near from OP, and don't worth the logistics. Tiradentes: 1 full day by taxi to SJdR to take the bus to Rio Please forget the taxi and consider the Tiradentes train to SJdR . You'll thank me for it. https://www.google.com.br/search?q=maria+fuma%C3%A7a+tiradentes&rlz=1C1CHMO_pt-brBR529BR529&espv=2&biw=1689&bih=926&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj5wpHbw8zJAhUIQZAKHbnSAF4Q_AUIBygC Paraty: 2 full days (or is it enough 1 day?) 2 full days is enough. They seem very beautiful, but no time for them this time, althought I love trekking. Ciao. Citar
